Planning for the festive season

A few templates for the festive season
email

It’s that time of year again and I’ve been rushed off my feet!

My clients are making plans for their Christmas offerings to their clients but nobody is keen to spend much money.

What can you do to keep the relationship between you and your clients sweet, without spending a small fortune sending out cards, calenders, mouse mats etc?Aren’t those things outdated and impersonal anyway?
I’ve have a very good response with the solution that I’ve offered so I thought I’d share it here…

Video Email.
A few templates for the festive season
A few minutes with a video camera or webcam and a nice message is ready to go… and you know what? It’s environmentally friendly, it’s a lot more personal than a corporate gift and it’s really cheap or even free depending on how many you need to send.

The people I have spoken to are planning some really exciting stuff!
Some are planning to record individual messages to their best customers, others are sending the same message to everyone, some of the messages will be funny with the whole team singing Merry Christmas to their customers, others will tell their customers what they can look forward to from their company in the new year and some include a Christmas promotion along with the message.

Some of you know that I live ‘off grid’ on a small holding and am very passionate about the environment which is why my friends and family as well as my business contacts will be getting personal video messages instead of greetings cards this year!

What are you planning to do for your customers?

Emma

Going mobile

As I write this, I am sitting in a train station.

As I don’t like to be idle, I thought it would be a great time to test wordpress on my iPhone and talk about mobile social media.

A lot of people say that social media takes up more time than they’d like – I agree, sometimes it’s hard to get around to it all. On my phone, I have a few apps to help me use my idle time (like waiting for trains) productive.

WordPress is newly installed and I’m testing it for the first time today but here are a few others I always use.

1. Facebook – I think this is available for most phones nowadays and I love it to keep up with everyone, in fact I hardly switch it on when I’m sitting down at my mac because it’s so distracting and I like my sitting down time to be focused!

2. Tweetdeck – although I automate twitter to a certain degree, I do like to reply to direct messages and @ replies from my phone as much as possible. It takes seconds to update and again, doesn’t interfere with my serious sitting at the computer time!

3. Google+ – Since I joined google+ it has been a must for my phone!

4. Skype – I love Skype and use it a lot! I’m a member if several groups that are very active and if I’m honest, popping in and seeing what’s up is a lot of fun! Of course, I use it for business as well and to support my team so it’s important to be there but I can’t always be next to the computer! (Did I mention that I hate to sit down?!)

If you are finding social media too time consuming or a distraction on your computer, you might want to consider taking some of it mobile – I know that it made a big difference to my life and business so I had to share it with you too!

Do you use any mobile apps to help you with your social media presence?

More on google+

Argh, I know, you’re probably getting sick to death of all this google+ talk – everyone is going on about it. But there is a good reason for it.

Even though google+ hasn’t released it’s business tools yet, it makes a lot of sense for you as a business to be in there, networking and getting to know the system inside out. You competitors will be in there soon enough and I believe it makes a lot of sense to be one of the first because from what I can tell so far, Google+ is going to be very good news for your business.

I must admit, it’s a little confusing in there and as time is money, I didn’t want to spend hours playing around in there getting nowhere! Fortunately for us, Kimberly Castleberry from just-ask-kim.com has stepped up and already provided training for us here.

I have to make a confession at this point… I always rely on Kimberly to do all of the studying, it takes days, sometimes weeks to figure these things out and quite frankly, I’m too busy as I’m sure you are too.

If you want to take advantage of all of the work that Kimberly has done, you can get her google+ training here. I was live on the webinar with her and had to watch the replay several times to take in all of the information in, that’s how much she gives, always over delivering!

Naturally, if you like to learn things in your own time, that’s totally cool and you can always pop a comment in and ask me anything you need too know or contact me via the contact me page.

All the best,

Emma

P.S. If you’re looking for a invite to google+ contact me with you gmail address and I’ll send you one, I have a little trick that gives you a much higher chance of getting in. I’m really looking forward to it being open to everyone!
